Are Cupcakes Selfish?

January 10, 2009
Cupcakes by Fair Cake, London, UK
According to The Londonist,
“wonder-business” Fair Cake is
“The best cupcake in London?
Hmmm … quite possibly yes.

According to Zoe Williams of the, cupcakes are the “favourite greedy treat of the me-generation.

Apparently the American cupcakes have outdone the British version of the cupcake, known as “fairycakes.”

The Guardian’s resident food blogger, Sarah Phillips, ponders the same question, “Cupcakers, is it true they are the most selfish cake?”

Is it wrong to want to savor every sweet and delicious bite of cake and frosting all by yourself?

You be the judge.

I don’t think cupcakes are selfish. Once we made our daughter share a bite of cupcake with her little brother. He leaned over and bit off all the icing! Now that was selfish (and a little funny since he was only 2)

Cupcakes aren’t selfish, they’re personal! How many times do you see just 1 cupcake being baked? They’re portioned. They’re neat. They’re cakes perfected! No one should ever eat a whole cake by themselves, but a cupcake is totally ok! And it cuts down on compromises so everyone can have their favorite!I’m glad you’re back, last night i was getting a server not found error!
